The Livingstone Quarry is a very specialized art supply outlet catering to soft stone carving. At this time we do not deal with hard stones, or lapidary at all. That may change someday, but for now we cater exclusively to soft stone carvers, carrying a variety of soapstones and alabaster. In ventory can change on very short notice as new sources are found, and old supplies are exhausted. We do have limited supplies of tools and accessories, such as casting clay. We also offer instruction, either privately, or in small groups, at very reasonable rates.

There is a newsletter to be found on this site, (see GLASCA page.) The name refers to the Great Lakes - Atlantic Stone Carvers’ Association. The newsletter is meant to provide experienced and novice soft stone carvers with helpful hints, and useful information related to stone carving. It is free. All you need do is check back with this site periodically. The page is updated roughly every two months.

Our goal is to provide top quality soft stone for novice, experienced, and professional stone carvers at the best possible price. We also want to assist and encourage novice carvers in mastering the techniques, and developing their own artistic style. We want to promote soft stone carving as an art form, and raise its profile in eastern North America. You don’t have to native to carve!

The Livingstone Quarry is an active member of TIA, (Thousand Islands Arts) and is involved in a number of shows and studio tours that are organized through that group of artists. There are 3 studio tours run annually by TIA, held on consecutive weekends in spring, autumn and winter. They are: “Up The Garden Path” which features fine art, and private gardens; “Fall Colours” which is precisely what name suggests; and “A Country Home Christmas,” which features fine art, and seasonal decorations. The Livingstone Quarry is an active participant in all three.

There are also some art shows that we do participate in, such as The Friends of Bon Echo Art Show and Sale, held on the shores of Lake Mazinaw, in Bon Echo Park, each July. We are also a regular participant in the annual Rockhound Gemboree and Stone Carving Symposium in Bancroft on the civic holiday weekend between July and August, as well as the Gemstorm at Portsmouth Harbour Facility in Kingston, ON, every October.

Should any new shows be added to the itinerary, we will notify you here. Otherwise, I hope to see you either at one of these shows, or at our studio here in Mallorytown.

Business Hours:

By appointment only.  Please call ahead 902-730-2016 , or e-mail me and let me know when you'd like to drop by.
I am a substitute teacher and do not know more than a day or two ahead whether I will be home or away, so on school days it is very important that you first make sure I will be here before you make the trip.
